Successful passenger journeys are anchored in robust scheduling, coordinated flow management and resilient operations. The integration of advanced technology within the Heathrow Operations Efficiency Cell (HOEC) – a unique operational planning team made up of up Heathrow traffic coordinators – embedded within Heathrow's Airport Operation Centre (APOC), enables seamless cooperation between airport and ANSP to ensure that airport capacity and passenger movement are optimized from gate to sky. This presentation will demonstrate how NATS and Heathrow operate one of only a few combined ANSP/airport operations cells in the world, leveraging shared technology to bolster resilience, efficiency and sustainability.
- Details about the Heathrow Operations Cell, including its origins, organizational placement, operators and its role in improving operational efficiency
- How tools that leverage real-time and historical data are an essential part of stakeholder coordination and achieving high levels of performance
- Using technology that enables the operation to build sustainability into the scheduling
- Advanced digital tools and coordinated response strategies support swift recovery from events like adverse weather or operational disruption
- Collaborative, technological innovations on the horizon focused on enhancing resilience
