Regional airports versus hubs in the aviation market of CEE

Airport management – leadership and strategy
Based on (not entirely) market competition in CEE aviation markets, the speaker will present the specific case of a (by definition) secondary airport covering the metropolitan area of Warsaw (and northeast Poland) and its struggle to attract more carriers into a geographically dominated market. There will also be a subjective assessment of the strategies of premier players – W6, FR, U2. To what extent is this a competitive game, and what role is played by so-called marketing support and the region's promotion. The speaker will also discuss whether the concept of the public service obligation versus essential air service is still alive.
