Reducing friction and repatriation risk at the check-in desk

Digital identity and wallets in travel
Using a wallet like Bhutan's, that has identity, passport, visa and medical data cryptographically signed by a trusted issuing organization, can reduce risk and friction during check-in for airline staff. Many countries still require vaccinations, such as yellow fever – proof of which has to be presented at the check-in desk, entry visas, etc. These are often printed on paper and easy to fake. Having these all as verifiable digital credentials will reduce not just the risk of fraud at check-in, but also reduce friction, making the customer experience faster and better.
- Biometrics can ensure the digital wallet and the human are strongly connected
- Verifiable credentials from trusted issuers can be digitally verified, speeding up the process and reducing fraud
- Digital automation improves the customer experience
- Digital automation standardizes data, improving the data quality
