Panel discussion: Optimizing, integrating and operationalizing the checkpoint

Aviation security and facilitation
Checkpoints have undergone significant security enhancements in the past several years. The use of computed tomography x-ray in the checkpoint has significantly enhanced security and detection. These systems, however, have yet to be fully optimized and operationalized, and thus have yet to achieve the expected efficiencies in throughput. The panel will discuss networking transportation security equipment to effectively increase throughput. It will also explore the advantages of image on alarm only (automated prohibited item detection system), and how advanced algorithms can reduce the number of images requiring review, and the related throughput increase and potential personnel savings.
- The key advantages of computed tomography x-ray
- The advances in security presented by CT
- The advantages of a networked checkpoint in terms of security and throughput
- The advantages of image on alarm only (APIDS) in terms of security improvements and throughput
- The improved passenger experience in terms of enhanced throughput and fewer divest requirements, including liquids
