Digital identity and wallets in travel
Cross-border travel is founded upon the use of trusted data derived from internationally developed identity and travel documents. Efforts to enhance efficiency typically focus on improving capabilities to transmit and share this data and to use it more intelligently to speed processes and eliminate physical touchpoints. The importance of global interoperability of solutions and trust in the data being used should not be diminished, however. In this presentation, ICAO's efforts to facilitate international travel through use of digital solutions and innovation leveraging existing trust frameworks will be explained and opportunities for further development explored.
- The current status of definition of international specifications for the ICAO Digital Travel Credential and other ICAO digital and electronic documents
- Why global interoperability and backwards compatibility with existing solutions are foundations for coordinated and rapid development
- The growing importance of global trust frameworks, and how the ICAO PKD is advancing to meet the needs of digitally enhanced cross-border travel
- The growing value of public-private partnership – ICAO's efforts to foster such partnerships to advance global travel
