Room 1
Day 1 - Environment and sustainability
As a forward-thinking and responsible airport, Heathrow is committed to sustainable growth. There are targets in place to help the airport focus on what matters: reducing carbon emissions while embracing growth. As Heathrow becomes more mature in its carbon management, the focus shifts to the wider landscape: what is Heathrow’s role in relation to its complex ecosystem of stakeholders, including delivery partners, airlines, other infrastructure clients, passengers and wider society when it comes to decarbonization? The presentation will explore the power of shared values and objectives: tangible benefits achieved through collaboration, leadership and influence in carbon management and sustainable solutions.
- Heathrow’s own ‘on the ground’ carbon targets drive action and commitment, including personal responsibility for its leadership and suppliers
- Recognizing the power of best practice, Heathrow made a commitment to specific decarbonization objectives through the Construction Leadership Council
- External commitments provided a pathway to establish Heathrow’s own carbon blueprint, which is fully aligned to industry best practice (PAS2080)
- Structured, open and constructive dialogue with delivery partners and other infrastructure clients leads to carbon and cost reduction
- Shared commitment between clients is essential to enable transformational market response, bringing cost and carbon efficiencies
