Chances and challenges for implementing hydrogen GSE at airports

Environment and sustainability
During the presentation, we will discuss the implementation of different types of hydrogen GSE at Schiphol Airport, focusing on the use of an H2 tow truck, pickup truck GPU and airside refueling station. We'll go over the reasoning behind why hydrogen could be a solution for sustainable ground operations; the implementation of equipment and the logistics needed in an airport environment; safety regulations and measures taken into account during the tests; and results of the tests. We want to share the possibility to go from a known operational reality to an operational reality 2.0 with sustainable fuels but without operational changes.
- Advantages and disadvantages of the use of hydrogen as a fuel for GSE
- Operational needs and logistics to make hydrogen operations possible at an airport
- Safety and regulation requirements for the implementation of hydrogen GSE at an airport
- Results of a live test at Schiphol Airport, which proved the possibilities and feasibility of hydrogen
- The fact that hydrogen-electric and battery-electric can be partners in a pathway to a sustainable future
