World’s First Auracast Deployment for Airport Public Announcements at Frankfurt Airport
Frankfurt Airport becomes the world’s first airport to use Auracast for airport public announcements, marking a major milestone in the evolution of airport communication. The official go-live event took place on January 28, 2026, introducing a new era of accessible and intelligent airport announcements.
This groundbreaking deployment enables both manual and automated airport announcements to be streamed directly to passengers’ personal devices.
The project was realized in close collaboration between Sittig Technologies, Fraport, and Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, with strong support from global technology partners including GN, Google, Samsung, and the Bluetooth SIG.
As a specialist in intelligent airport announcement systems, Sittig Technologies integrated Auracast into its automatic announcement platform, enabling real-time streaming of live and automated gate announcements. The result: clearer communication in noisy terminal environments and a significant step forward for accessible airport operations.
🔊 What this innovation enables:
- Direct streaming of airport public announcements to smartphones, hearing aids, earbuds, and cochlear implants
- Improved accessibility for passengers with hearing impairments
- Reduced dependency on loudspeaker-only communication
- A foundation for multilingual and personalized airport announcements in the future
This world-first deployment demonstrates how modern airport public announcement systems can evolve beyond traditional PA infrastructure — supporting inclusive travel, silent airport concepts, and next-generation passenger experience.
