Data-driven Decision-making: Airport WHAT-IF Scenarios as a usecase for digital data (AMDB)
Digital, dynamic aeronautical data enables airports to model and evaluate “what-if” operational scenarios before changes occur in the real environment. By combining continuously updated Aerodrome Mapping Data (AMDB), Digital NOTAM information, and operational data such as aircraft movements or surveillance feeds, airports can simulate the impact of temporary closures, infrastructure works, traffic surges, or emergency situations on the airside. These simulations allow airport operators to analyze potential bottlenecks, assess safety implications, and evaluate alternative taxi routing or stand allocation strategies. As a result, decision-makers gain the ability to proactively test operational strategies, optimize resource allocation, and maintain safe and efficient airport operations under changing conditions.
