WAISL to turn heads at PTE World
At the same event last year the company introduced its Airport Predictive Operating Centre (APOC) called AeroWise.
The airside part of the technology called TurnWise has sent operators into a delighted spin with is ability to drive efficiencies, increase capacity by turning planes around on time, lessen the environmental impact by ensuring efficient taxiing, and save money.
This system has already proven its worth at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and is being installed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport along with the rest of AeroWise.
TurnWise has piqued the interest of European and British operators who understand the challenges of getting more from the airside element of their hubs without being able to physically expand.
Leading figures from WAISL – which has an office in London - will be attending PTE at the Excel on March 17-19 to talk about TurnWise, their Unified Total Airside Management (UTAM) system.
Heading the tech’s roll-out in the UK and Europe is industry veteran Andy Bordass.
He said: “The reception of AeroWise since last year’s PTE has been phenomenal.
“Unlike many technologies introduced and launched we are able to point to where it is already up and running and transforming operations.
“The TurnWise element is of particular interest to European and British airports because of the capacity issues.
“Our technology utilises digital-twin, advanced AI and the Internet of Things to ensure that efficiencies are identified and maximised.
“The tech monitors all incoming aircraft from 70 miles out and cross references that data against airport readiness which allows for strategic planning. And then as the plane nears the airport more detailed preparation can be checked.
“It allows resources to be allocated early, weather alerts to be taken into account and deployment of staff to be better planned.
“It also enables ground services to properly prepare, fuelling and catering to be more efficiently organised and stands and gates can be checked and baggage systems can be ready. Furthermore, it makes the airside operations safer.
“One problem with airports is that their systems are often siloed and separate – not just between the airside, terminal and landside elements but within those areas themselves.
“In the airside part alone there are many systems which TurnWise integrates so operators are able to ensure flight throughput.
“The system utilises all the data and where it is working the feedback from airlines is all positive.
“It minimises gate-handling costs, reduces delays and provides high satisfaction rates among passengers.
“Also, when an airport is shut down – as we have seen this winter during the cold snap – TurnWise gets things back up quickly.
“At PTE we will be showcasing the system so people can actually get an idea of what it looks like. We think this will persuade people that they are looking into the future of airports.”
PTE is expected to attract 10,000 visitors from 120 countries. It is the most highly regarded airport design and operations conference in the world.
WAISL will be on Stand B90 and is a gold sponsor.
