Viarium: experience in the design and supervision of boarding bridges at airports in Spain
Innovation in the AENA network (2018-2022)
Between 2018 and 2022, Viarium was responsible for the design and supervision of all investments in boarding bridges and assistance systems at the 47 airports that make up the AENA network.
This project stood out not only for its technical complexity, but also for its direct impact on the passenger experience and the operational efficiency of airlines. The challenge was to implement uniform standards that would guarantee quality, safety and comfort in every operation.
This work represented a turning point in the management of critical infrastructure, consolidating Viarium's position as a leading strategic consultancy.

Expansion of Palma de Mallorca Terminal (2024–2027)
Our experience is currently reflected in one of the most significant projects in Spanish airport infrastructure: the expansion of the Palma de Mallorca Airport Terminal.
Within this framework, Viarium is leading the project management, as well as the design and supervision of all investments in boarding bridges and aircraft assistance systems. With an investment of over 1.3 million euros in engineering, this project reflects both the magnitude of the undertaking and the trust placed in our team to carry it out to the highest quality standards.
The expansion of the Palma de Mallorca terminal not only seeks to respond to the progressive increase in passenger numbers, but also to strengthen sustainability, operational efficiency and passenger comfort. To this end, we are working on solutions that not only meet current needs, but also anticipate future challenges in air mobility.

Innovation and added value
Today's boarding bridges are no longer simple structures connecting the terminal to the aircraft. Nowadays, they represent a strategic point in the journey: they are the passenger's first contact with their destination and are key to ensuring smooth and safe boarding.
At Viarium, we have opted for an approach that goes beyond functionality, integrating innovations that add value:
- Automated systems capable of adjusting to aircraft movements, increasing operational safety and minimising waiting times.
- Integrated climate control, designed to maintain a comfortable environment regardless of external conditions, improving the passenger experience.
- Dynamic adjustments that allow for faster boarding and disembarking, optimising processes and reducing incidents.
Each of these solutions reflects our commitment to combining advanced engineering with the constant improvement of the passenger experience.
Our commitment
Although technology is an essential driver of transformation in the sector, at Viarium we believe that the greatest value lies in the experience and commitment of our team. Each project is approached with technical rigour, innovative vision and a clear focus on excellence.
The combination of specialised profiles in civil, mechanical and electrical engineering and project management allows us to offer a comprehensive service that ranges from the conceptual design phase to the supervision and commissioning of the infrastructure. This multidisciplinary vision ensures the highest quality results, tailored to the specific needs of each airport and the millions of passengers who rely on them.
With this track record, we reaffirm our role as a trusted consultancy in the field of airport engineering, promoting strategic projects that strengthen mobility and connectivity in Spain and Europe. Our goal is not limited to meeting current standards, but to anticipating the challenges that will shape the future of aviation: sustainability, digitalisation and passenger experience.
