Rohde & Schwarz is advancing airport security with its QPS Walk2000
Rohde & Schwarz is advancing airport security with its QPS Walk2000 walk-through scanner, designed to improve both screening efficiency and threat detection in increasingly busy airports. The system uses millimeter wave (mmWave) technology combined with artificial intelligence and machine learning to detect metallic and non-metallic threats, including weapons, explosives and emerging risks such as 3D-printed weaponry.
Unlike conventional scanners that require passengers to stop and adopt static poses, the QPS Walk2000 allows individuals to walk through at a normal pace. Potential threats are detected in real time and displayed on an avatar, enabling security personnel to perform targeted follow-up checks while maintaining high passenger throughput.
A key milestone was the recent approval of the scanner’s detection capabilities by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC). This certification confirms that the system meets stringent European aviation security standards and enables faster passenger throughput while maintaining reliable threat detection.
The technology is already deployed at airports including Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport for employee screening, while Frankfurt Airport has become the first airport worldwide to regularly use the walk-through scanner for passenger screening.
When asked about PTE world Rohde & Schwarz said "The Rohde & Schwarz team is excited to be here at Passenger Terminal Expo. Stop by our booth E250 to discover how our security screening solutions for aviation are transforming airport security with comfortable walk through screening"
